Good afternoon, Prospectors,
Welcome to the start of the 2023-2024 school year! To begin, my name is Mr. Ryan Lamb, one of the assistant principals of Apache Junction High School. I have been with the district for three years and I am looking forward to this year at the high school. Working beside me will be Mrs. Sarah Farrell, our other assistant principal. She is an alumni from the AJHS class of 2010 and is elated to be back home. This welcome letter will serve as a reference for you about the back to school events at the high school in the coming weeks.
Registration
Registration is something that needs to happen every year, whether you have a returning student or a new student. In order for you and your student to see their class schedule, the registration process needs to be completed. If you need assistance, please call the front office at 480-474-3980.
Freshman Orientation
Our first event is the Freshman Orientation on Tuesday, July 18, 2023, from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM. This event will take place in the North gym, which is west of the cafeteria. At this event, there will be presentations by the school band, ROTC, EVIT, cheer team, and student council. Students will also l have the opportunity to check out their laptops for the school year during the tour of the school. Lastly, we hope that all freshmen can attend this event to get into the spirit of being in high school and beginning that next chapter in their lives.
Meet the Teacher Night
The second event before school begins is our Meet the Teacher Night on Thursday, July 20, 2023 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. During this event, parents and students will have the chance to meet their teachers for the coming school year. The students’ schedules can be found in StudentVue and ParentVue. As you walk from class to class meeting the teachers, they will have a syllabus for your reference. Next, during Meet the Teacher Night you will have an opportunity to pay your fees for the school year. Lastly, please join us as we welcome the students back to school and to meet the teachers that they will have this year.
First Day of School
The first day of school is July 24, 2023. Students will be expected to report to their class when the first bell rings. The gates will open at 6:30 AM and dismissal will be at 2:00 PM. All students will participate in a Welcome Assembly and be expected to follow their classroom schedule. If there are any questions or concerns you can contact myself or Mrs. Farrell, prior to the start of school.
